The Cathedral Centre
Map with a pinpoint of the Cathedral Centre
The Cathedral Centre has been developed out of a building that was formerly a Victorian School and which in recent years had been used by the City of Salford as their Education Offices.
In purchasing these buildings it has long been the hope of the Bishop that they be linked into the Cathedral and Cathedral House and used as a Diocesan Centre at the heart and centre of the diocese, the Cathedral. The Cathedral is very much at the heart of the diocese, as the focus of unity around the bishop for the local church, and it is hoped that the new Cathedral Centre will help in fostering this diocesan unity at the heart of the Diocese by facilitating the gathering of people together in one place and also in reaching out from the centre of the diocese to all parishes and schools.
The new Cathedral Centre is a diocesan resource, as a way of supporting the mission of the diocese, in all areas and departments, in the coming years ahead. This move to the Cathedral Centre, following on as part of the recent Faith in the Future process, is, in some ways a consolidating of the Administrative arms of the diocese from the three present locations, but more than this it is very much seen as a great opportunity for new energy to be released in finding new ways of communicating across departments and reaching out to the parishes and schools.

As well as housing the diocesan departments, including the finance and administration office, education office, youth office, communications office, safeguarding office and diocesan chancery and tribunal, to support the various activities of the diocese, the new Centre will also have conference facilities which will be able to be used by groups and organisations across the diocese. A bookshop has recently opened, on the ground floor. It is also hoped in the next phase of building works to develop other buildings on the complex including a café as part of the Cathedral Centre.
The Cathedral Centre is a new home and focus for diocesan activity. We hope that many of you, people and priests of the diocese, will get the opportunity to visit the Centre in the near future and please be assured that, whenever you visit, you will receive a warm welcome.
