Download clergy testimonial letter (to be filled in by all clergy attending)
Priests and Deacons
Priests and deacons who come to the Congress and wish to participate, must be accredited. This happens as follows:
- They register on line and submit an electronic passport photograph;
- On completion of registration they are able to download a form, of which they must complete part and then send on to their bishop or provincial superior to complete, sign and stamp / seal the remainder;
- The form is sent to IEC2012 via FAX or email;
- The original follows by post;
- The form is checked for completeness in our office;
- It goes to Sr Elizabeth Cotter (co-ordinator) for clearance;
- Sr Elizabeth notifies us that the person is accredited;
- They collect their badge at the time of registration, on presentation of photo ID and, ideally, the original copy of their testimonial.
There will be a representative of the Office for Clergy available at the RDS to deal with complications.
Bishops
Since bishops are those who give the testimonial to priests, it does not make sense to ask them to give themselves a testimonial. The chancellery takes the view that, since it is easier to establish that a bishop is genuine, because of the relatively smaller numbers, our process would simply require:
- That the bishop submits a photograph at time of registration (or in many cases we probably accept the fact that they don’t comply and we get it on line);
- That the Episcopal conference in each country provides us with a list of the bishops attending;
- That the bishop collects his badge on presentation of photographic ID.
The organising committee in Dublin offer:
- A dedicated and secure FAX and email;
- A staff member whose responsibility it is to:
- receive and check the incoming documentation and to pass it to Sr Elizabeth, the co-ordinator;
- communicate with the applicants maintain a record of the status of the application.
