The programme for the 50th International Eucharistic Congress will include the following elements:
Plenary Sessions:
Each day, generally in the afternoon, the Catechesis (given by a bishop), the Testimony (given by a lay-person with a story of faith and the Celebration of the Eucharist, will take place in the main arena of the RDS
Workshops and Cultural Events:
A programme of workshops and cultural events will be offered in the mornings and the evenings. The invitations to presenters have been issued and approximately 60% have responded to date.
Youth Space:
A dedicated youth space will operate throughout the Congress, with an anticipated 2,000 young adults taking part each day. The youth space will have its own programme of Catechesis, workshops, music, and of course lots of coffee. A bishop will be assigned each day to be the “host bishop” for the youth space.
Prayer Space:
There will be two prayer spaces at the Congress, one in which guided prayer will be offered some of the time and the other of which (in a Poor Clare Monastery adjacent to the Campus) will be for silent prayer
Daily Themes:
Each day of the Congress has its own theme, linked to the main theme of the Congress, “The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and with One Another” The daily themes are as follows:
Monday: Communion and Baptism (with a strong ecumenical focus)
Tuesday: Communion, Marriage & Family (family day)
Wednesday: Communion and Ministry, Ordained and Lay
Thursday: Communion and Reconciliation
Friday: Communion, Suffering & Healing
Saturday: Communion in the Word, through Mary
