Diocesan education moving a-head

On Thursday 20th September, Bishop Brain commissioned 25 serving Primary, Secondary and College head teachers and Principals during Mass at St John’s Cathedral. The commissioned heads will undertake a number of roles to assist and support the Department of Formation, the diocesan body that oversees education.

These roles will include mentoring newly appointed head teachers, undertaking pastoral visits to diocesan schools, being mentors for the Catholic Leadership Programme, assisting with leadership appointments and training specialist leaders of Religious Education.

Each head teacher was commissioned by Bishop Brain and received a copy of John O’Donoghue’s Benedictus.

There are other head teachers to be commissioned who were unable to be present today.

Pat Jones, head teacher of Our Lady of Grace Primary School in Prestwich, and one of those commissioned, said, "All the head teachers and principals feel very privileged and honoured to represent the ‘human face’ of the diocese in the work that lies ahead".

We pray that their work will be fruitful.
