Bishop Mark Davies returns to Salford |
Thursday, 27 May 2010
From early in the evening of Friday 14th May, the faithful from the Diocese had started to gather in St John's Cathedral, Salford, eagerly awaiting the Mass of Thanksgiving for its former priest and Vicar General, the Right Reverend Mark Davies, Coadjutor Bishop of Shrewsbury. Bishop Brain had invited Bishop Davies to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at Salford Cathedral for his Episcopal Ordination.
The gathering included family, friends, religious associates, parishioners from his former parishes, and former fellow priests - here this evening concelebrating the Mass.
Bishop Brain cordially extended everyone's heartfelt welcome to Bishop Davies who, in response, graciously thanked the Bishop for the opportunity of the Mass of Thanksgiving and being able to share it with everyone of Salford Diocese, the diocese of his priestly ordination and 26 years of service. He extended thanks to all who had contributed to the Mass and to everyone who had attended.
Following the Mass, refreshments were served in the cloisters and people took the opportunity to renew their acquaintance with Bishop Davies and to wish him well.
