Getting to know your body through reading the signs

One of the basic biological differences between men and women lies in how their fertility is manifest. Men are fertile all the time. In contrast to this, a woman is only fertile for a short time during the course of each menstrual cycle. This means that the couple is only fertile for a brief time in every cycle. FertilityCare works by identifying the phases of fertility and infertility that occur on a cyclical basis during the course of a woman’s menstrual cycle.

FertilityCare users must first learn how to document and interpret the signs that the body is giving them about the fertility cycle and health. The system is taught by qualified practitioners through a series of one-to-one sessions. Couples who choose to use the system are encouraged to attend these sessions together. In these sessions, users of the system are taught the technique for observing biomarkers and recording these biomarker observations on a chart. Users subsequently learn how to interpret the significance of the information available on their chart. The couple then have the freedom to decide how the system can be used, basing their choice on mutually-set goals. Couple who wish to avoid a pregnancy would choose to abstain from sexual intercourse on fertile days that are identified by the system. Conversely, the system can be used to help couples achieve a pregnancy by identifying their fertile phase.
