Prayers every child should know
Our Father |
We should pray the Our Father daily with our children. It is a good prayer to use as a short morning or evening prayer. The Our Father is the oldest of Christian prayers, going back to Jesus Christ himself, who, as recounted in Matthew 6,6-13, taught his disciples to pray in these words.
Here is the prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name;
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
