The process in Salford

The Bishop has adopted a new approach to Vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood. Fr Steven Parkinson is the Vocations Director and Fr David Featherstone is the Vocations Promoter.

Fr David will remain the first point of contact for enquirers and will take them through the process of initial discernment. He will continue to oversee Vocations promotion within the diocese along with the Vocations promotion team.

When it is mutually agreed that a person is ready to begin a formal application to the Diocese for formation in the Diocesan Priesthood, Fr Steven will oversee all that is involved in the application process. Fr Steven will then accompany those who are accepted for formation through their time in seminary right up to Ordination.

The key aspect of this approach is team work and essentially Fr Steven and Fr David will work together to ensure that Direction and Promotion of Vocations in the Diocese are handled as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
