The R.E. GCSE syllabus for years 10 and 11 covers Church teachings on such topics as:

Sanctity of Life
Marriage and Family Life
Adultery
Faithfulness
Divorce
Cohabitation
Contraception
Promiscuity

Unfortunately, little is covered on why such teachings exist and why certain lifestyles are better to choose than others.

The models presented here are suggestions to supplement and enhance the work covered in the GCSE syllabus but also to help the pupils gain an understanding of the reasons for such teachings. Each of the model structures have been tried and tested with year 10 and year 11 pupils in one of the Salford diocesan high schools. All lessons were very successful with extremely positive feedback from the pupils.
