We look at Mary |
The Mother of Jesus said to the servants,
“Do whatever he tells you” (John 2,5).
Everyone likes to look at photos. They remind us of experiences and events in our lives; some funny, some unique – times that fill us with pride, or laughter or sorrow. Photos bring back memories. We keep photos of our loved ones, because when we look at the photo we feel close to them. Even a simple photo can bring courage, and strength and joy.

When we look at a picture of Mary in our homes, we are looking at someone who is so special for Jesus: she is his Mother. When we look at her picture, we give her the chance to speak to us and to be with us in our homes. She is our heavenly Mother too: she cares for our family, she will never let us down. Mary wants to draw us into the love between her and Jesus and into the love she has for every son and daughter of God.
Because she is so special, we can offer our Blessed Mother a place of honour in our homes. We can invite her to live with our family and be close to everyone who lives in our house. Because Mary is our Mother, she understands us, she sees the worries and the troubles, and all the ups-and-downs. Because she is the Mother of God she can help us and intercede for us; she can help us to have faith in the power of love of Jesus Christ.
What you can do as a family
Take a picture of Our Lady and give her a place of honour in your home. When you hang up the picture, say a short prayer of welcome and ask her to form every heart in your home to know, love and to serve Jesus always. Mary is the greatest missionary and she will bring about wonders in your home. When you glance at the Picture, you can say a little prayer to yourself: “Mother Mary, help me to love Jesus as you did!”
