Diocesan Walk for Creation

Laudato Si' Centre, Wardley Hall, Wardley, Worsley, Manchester M28 2ND
Sunday 2nd October 2022
12.30pm

On Sunday 2 October, we will be holding a special walk to reflect on the beauty of the earth and our call to be guardians of creation.

The walk follows on from the successful climate walk held in the Salford deanery last year, ahead of COP26, and is returning this autumn due to popular demand.

This year’s walk will take place the Sunday before the Feast of St Francis – the patron saint of ecology – and will once again offer us the chance to rethink our relationship with the earth and its Creator.

The walk will begin at the Laudato Si’ Centre at Wardley Hall at 12.30pm. We will then begin a 5.3 mile circular route, with two reflection stops – one at Roe Green, Worsley, and another at St Charles, Moorside Road, Swinton – before returning back to the Laudato Si’ Centre.

People are welcome to join the walk at any of our stops. Approximate timings are as follows:

12.30 Wardley Hall, Laudato Si’ Centre

1.30 Roe Green, Worsley

2.30 St Charles, RC Church Swinton

3pm Wardley Hall, Laudato Si’ Centre

At each of our stops, we will have the opportunity for a short reflection and to discover more about key teachings from Pope Francis about our responsibility to hear the “cry of the earth and the cry of the poor”.
