Spiritual Formation

“Since we are living by the Spirit, let our behaviour be guided by the Spirit….The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness and self- control” (Galatians 5: 25, 22)

The aim of the Spirituality section of the formation department is to help and facilitate the nurturing and development of people’s spiritual growth to compliment what they are already experiencing in parishes and deaneries.

The Christian’s life of Faith is not distinct or separate from their everyday life, a Christian’s Life is their Spiritual Life.

Christian Spirituality is our own growth as a son or daughter of God as the image of Christ is formed every more deeply in us, through our daily circumstances.

The Church helps us to grow in our Spiritual life and deepen our relationship with Christ through:

  • The Sacraments, especially the Eucharist (Christ himself, the source of Grace), Reconciliation (the forgiveness and removal of what is ungodlike in our lives),
  • Reflecting upon our lives in light of the Divine Word given in Sacred Scripture.
  • Growing in prayer.
  • The witness of the Saints: their lives, writings and spiritual development.
  • Spiritual guides who accompany us on our way.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
