Education Sunday

Sunday 12th September 2021

How can we teach if we have not been taught?

For over a hundred years, Education Sunday has been marked by a close focus on education. Formerly celebrated on the ninth Sunday before Easter, in 2016 it was moved to coincide with the beginning of a new school year. This year the focus of Education Sunday is to thank all those who work in Catholic schools for their hard work and dedication over what has been a very challenging 18 months.

Simon Smith, Diocesan Director for Education has said:

It is a national day of celebration for all those who work and learn in the varied world of education. We remember all those whose vocation it is to teach. We remember those who, in the name of our bishop, govern and guide. And we remember all our parents who, as first educators of their children, play an important role too.

How can we teach, we have not been taught?

St John Baptist’s De La Salle: pray for us.
