Lourdes 2020 – World Day of the Sick

Tuesday 11th February 2020

Since 1924 the people of the Diocese of Salford have answered Our Lady’s call to ‘come here in procession’ to Lourdes. As we prepare for our 88th diocesan pilgrimage in 2020, around 600 people from the diocese will travel to the shrine of Lourdes from July 31st to August 6th 2020.

What better way to mark the World Day of the Sick than by pledging to volunteer alongside them?

You will receive all the training you require to equip you to carry out your duties.  You’ll will be placed in a team and will work alongside other like minded volunteers, under the guidance of an experienced team leader on a rota devised by the co-ordinator for volunteers.

For many the experience of volunteering is life changing. Spending time with the pilgrims and enabling them to feel a part of the Salford family is both fulfilling and rewarding and the reason why many come back year after year.

The Lourdes pilgrimage is an important part of our faith and of our diocesan life. Here, Bishop John shares his thoughts on why it’s important to continue our pilgrimage to Lourdes.
