Early Career Formation & Induction Programme (ECFI)

This is suitable for NQTs, RQTs, or those new to working in Catholic schools.

Throughout the programme, we explore the essentials of what it means to teach within a distinctive Catholic school environment and focus on our role as Catholic educators, emerging leaders and missionary disciples. The programme aims to reinforce the CES Formatio National Strategy to form, nourish and sustain our early career teachers, and accompany them in their early development. Our ambition is for many of them to be the future leaders of our Catholic schools. A certificate of completion, endorsed by the Bishop of Salford, will be awarded to all delegates completing the programme.

As this is a facilitated and group-based programme, attendance at each module is mandatory, with session times as in the published programme. Any flexibility for delegates, in exceptional circumstances, must be authorised in advance by their Headteacher and the Diocesan Department for Education.

Details about the modules, including dates and times can be found here

Considering Leadership

A range of leadership development opportunities:

  • Considering Headship in Salford (booking form can be found here)
  • Considering Senior Leadership in Salford (booking form can be found here)
  • Considering Middle Leadership in Salford (booking form can be found here)

Each programme considers the charisms of effective leadership at each relevant stage within our Diocese of Salford schools. Delegates are challenged to articulate their own growth and development as a leader and are encouraged to reflect upon keynote presentations delivered by a range of leaders from our schools. On the two-day senior and headship programmes, there is further opportunity to consider approaches to job applications, interview tasks and to work on group presentations.

Details about the modules, including dates, times and booking links can be found above.

New to Headship in Salford

This programme, provided as part of the school levy to the Diocesan Department for Education, is for those new to Headship in a Salford Diocesan Catholic school, with some modules appropriate for those in Acting Headship roles. The programme aims to reinforce the CES Formatio National Strategy to form, nourish and sustain our Catholic school leaders, as well as to explore the distinctive charism of Bishop John’s vision for education in our diocesan family of schools.

Best practice is that those inducted into new leadership roles are provided with mentors, the programme begins with a pastoral visit to all new Heads and their chair of governors and an online briefing for mentors, exploring the programme content and delivery and the wider mentoring pathway for new Heads. A range of speakers from various schools complement the programme and enable sharing of best and next practice. A certificate of completion, endorsed by the Bishop of Salford, will be awarded to all delegates completing the programme.

All our new headteachers have been invited to this programme. The programme has no additional charge other than that associated with the mentoring pathway for New Heads.

Details about the modules, including dates, times and venues can be found here.
