RIP Fr Jim Tubman – Obituary and Funeral Notice

We are sorry to announce the sad news that Fr Jim Tubman died peacefully at lunchtime yesterday at Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Please remember him in your prayers. May he rest in peace.

Fr Tubman was in his eighty forth year, the fifty ninth year of his Sacred Priesthood.

James Tubman was born on 3rd November 1934 in Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim and was baptised on the same day at St Patrick’s, Mohill. He attended St Mel’s College, Longford and St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny. James was accepted as an Ecclesiastical student for the Diocese of Salford in February 1955 and remained at St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny.

Fr James Tubman was ordained to the Sacred Priesthood at the Cathedral Church of St Mary, Kilkenny on 5th June 1960.

Fr Tubman served the Diocese of Salford in the following appointments:

1960-1970:      St. Edmund, Bolton     Assistant Priest

1970-1979:      St. Winifred, Heaton Mersey  Assistant Priest

1979-1988:      Holy Family, Rochdale           Parish Priest

1988-2009:      Sacred Heart Colne               Parish Priest

Fr Tubman retired in 2009 to McAuley Mount in Burnley.

Fr Tubman’s body will be received into Sacred Heart, Colne Mass at 7:30pm on Thursday 25th October. The Requiem Mass at Sacred Heart, Colne will be concelebrated on Friday 26th October at 12:00 noon followed by burial at Colne Cemetery.
