RIP Fr Michael Hoare Obituary and Funeral Notice

We are sorry to share the sad news that Fr Michael Hoare died peacefully at Nazareth House on 27 November 2019.

Please remember him in your prayers and in the celebration of Mass. May he rest in peace.

Michael Hoare was born on 4th October 1927 in Moylough, Ballinasloe Co. Galway and was baptised on 8th October at Abbeyknockmoy Parish Church. He attended the Apostolic School, Mungret College in Limerick. Michael was accepted as an Ecclesiastical student for the Diocese of Salford in June 1953 and attended All Hallows College, Dublin.

Fr Michael Hoare was ordained to the Priesthood at All Hallows College, Dublin on 16th June 1957.

Fr Hoare served the Diocese of Salford in the following appointments:

1957-1960:   St. Wilfrid’s, Hulme  Assistant Priest

1960-1965:   Chaplain to St. Ignatius Secondary School, Manchester

1965-1971:   St. Patrick’s, Rochdale  Assistant Priest

1971-1976:   St. Anne’s, Crumpsall  Assistant Priest

1976-2005:   English Martyrs, Urmston Parish Priest

Fr Hoare retired in 2005 and became a resident at Nazareth House in 2015.

Fr Hoare’s body will be received into English Martyrs, Urmston for concelebrated Mass at 7:00pm on Tuesday 10th December.

Bishop John will celebrate the Requiem Mass at English Martyrs on Wednesday 11th December at 12:00 noon.

Burial will be in Moylough, Co. Galway.
