RIP Fr Paul Dillon Obituary Notice

We are sorry to share the sad news that Fr Paul Dillon died peacefully at his home in County Kerry on 25 April.

Please remember him in your prayers and in the celebration of Mass. May he rest in peace.

Paul was born on 27th October 1930 in Duagh, County Kerry and baptised at St Brigid’s, Duagh on the same day. He was educated at St. Patrick’s College, Carlow.

Paul was accepted as an Ecclesiastical student for the Diocese of Salford in July 1949 and continued at St. Patrick’s College. Fr Paul Dillon was ordained to the Priesthood at St Patrick’s College, Carlow on 6th June 1954.

Fr Dillon served the Diocese of Salford in the following appointments:

1954-1960:     St. Anne’s, Fairfield, Manchester

1960-1969:     St. Dunstan’s, Moston

1969-1970:     St James, Rawtenstall:

1970-1977:     St. Wilfrid’s Hulme

1977-1995:     St. Hugh of Lincoln, Stretford

1995-2003:     English Martyrs, Whalley

Fr Paul retired in 2003 and returned to his home town of Duagh, County Kerry.

In line with current guidelines, Fr Paul’s funeral took place with only close family present on Tuesday 28th April although the streets leading to the church were lined (at distance) with those wishing to pay their respects. Fr Paul was laid to rest in the grounds of Duagh church where he had been baptised in 1930.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
