RIP Fr Philip Price – Obituary and Funeral Notice

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Fr Philip Price who died peacefully this morning.

Richard Philip Price was born on 7th May 1938 in Penwortham, Lancs and was baptised on 12th June 1938 at St Mary’s, Penwortham. He attended Edinburgh Theological College and, having been ordained into ministry in the Church of England in 1963, served parishes and communities in Edinburgh and Aberdeen before returning to work in Lancashire.

Philip was received into Full Communion with the Church on 31st March 1996. Fr Philip Price was ordained to the Sacred Priesthood on 8th June 1997 at St Anne’s, Ancoats by Rt Rev Joseph Gray, Bishop Emeritus of Shrewsbury.

Fr Price served the Diocese of Salford in the following appointments:

1997-2003: St. Anne’s, Ancoats, Manchester

2003-2018: English Martyrs, Whalley

Fr Price had been undergoing treatment for cancer for some time but his death was unexpected and he had remained in active ministry.

Fr Price’s body will be received into English Martyrs, Whalley, for concelebrated Mass at 7:30pm on Tuesday 2nd October.

Bishop John will celebrate the Requiem Mass at English Martyrs on Wednesday 3rd October at 12:00 noon followed by burial at Whalley Cemetery.
