Schools Prepare for ‘The God Who Speaks’

Friday 29th November 2019

Schoolchildren from the deanery of St Ambrose Barlow gathered at St Ann’s Church, Stretford, to mark the start of the Year of the Word.

On the day, over 20 schools from the deanery attended and each school had gotten creative to form their own special prayer station for the other schools to learn and reflect on.

The theme of the deanery day was ‘The God Who Speaks‘ which was held as part of the celebrations of the ‘Year of the Word’.

Year six pupils from St Catherine’s Catholic Primary School in Didsbury said: “Our favourite part of the day was all of the singing, because it means we’re praying twice.

“I liked making our prayer station and learning more about St Ambrose from Fr Michael, and I love the architecture in the church!”

At the end of the day, each school was presented with a Hope in the Future deanery candle which will burn brightly in their schools, reminding them of their value and links with their parish community.
