Will you answer the Call to Lourdes 2020?

Friday 15th November 2019

If you have never been to Lourdes and are thinking of getting involved next year, we have a number of events that may help you make up your mind.

Our new ‘Lourdes at Home’ events also give those who can’t join us on the pilgrimage a chance to get involved and experience a little bit of the atmosphere of Lourdes.

Volunteer Information Meeting

Find out more about our friendly and welcoming Salford family at our Volunteer Information Meeting. There’s no hard sell and you don’t have to commit to anything. Get a brew, sit down, listen to our presentation and chat with some of our existing volunteers. We’ll be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

As a volunteer with the diocesan Lourdes pilgrimage, you’ll be assisting the sick, vulnerable, infirm and lonely from our diocese. Helping them to fully participate in, and be at the centre of, all that we do in Lourdes.

We’ll give you all the preparation and support that you need. It’s hard work but it’s one of the most rewarding experiences you’ll have. Many volunteers make decisions about future careers when in Lourdes. Find time to explore your faith, to learn about yourself and to find friends that you’ll have for life.

It is often said that you don’t ‘go’ to Lourdes, you are ‘called’. Answer the call in 2020.

The Volunteer Information Meeting is on Wednesday 27th November at 7.30pm at the Cathedral Centre, 3 Ford Street, M3 6DP

Mass and Launch of the 88th Salford Diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage

Salford Cathedral, Sunday 8th December, 5.30pm

A chance to gather together as a pilgrimage family as we celebrate Mass for the 2nd Sunday of Advent on the eve of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception and officially launch the 88th Salford Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes 2020.

Bishop John Arnold will celebrate Mass, accompanied by priests of the diocese with music provided by our wonderful pilgrimage choir and musicians.

Following Mass you are invited to join us in the cathedral cloisters as we release travel information and pricing along with volunteer application forms for our 2020 pilgrimage.

Please do share this invitation with anyone who you feel may benefit from travelling on pilgrimage with us next Summer, as a pilgrim or volunteer.

All are welcome, you do not need to have travelled to Lourdes with us in the past.

Lourdes at Home – Adoration, reflection & social

Throughout the year we’ll be running several events to bring our Salford family together. All these events, including Masses, Adoration & socials, will come under the heading ‘Lourdes at Home.’

Our first ‘Lourdes at Home’ offering for this year is for our youth volunteers and pilgrims and is an evening of Adoration and reflection, led by Fr. Mark Paver.

The event will be held at St. Luke’s Church, Salford. It’s a chance to get away from the business of Christmas preparations, put your phones away, forget social media and sit in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

Following adoration, there will be a short reflection, led by Fr. Mark. After this, there is the opportunity to gather and take part in the parish quiz night.

This event is on:  Friday 13th December at 7.30pm at St Luke’s, Swinton Park Road, Irlams o’th’height, M6 7WR

We hope you’ll join us at one of the events.

Please get in touch with any questions and invite those who may not see this invite.
