Preaching at St Mary’s College, Oscott on the solemnity of the Ascension, Bishop Mark Davies gave the following homily on priestly celibacy.
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and then you will be my witnesses (Acts 1:8).
Eucharistic Congress Bell received | |
Sunday 20th May saw the arrival of the Eucharistic Congress Bell. Brought from Ireland in a van, it took pride of place at a special parish prayer service to mark the preparations for next month's 50th International Eucharistic Congress.

Cormac Cardinal Murphy-O’Connor, the retired archbishop of Westminster, is warning that atheism seeks to wipe out Christianity from the United Kingdom. In a speech delivered this week in Leicester’s Anglican Cathedral, the prelate stated, “In the name of tolerance it seems to me tolerance is being abolished.”
